Being Careful With Your Car Insurance
Posted under Cheap Online Car Insurance Policy by WilliamWith motor industries around the world suffering as a result of the credit crunch, sales of cars and vans have seen a decline in recent months as more of us have to tailor our budgets in reaction to the soaring cost of living.
Many of us are now looking to the used car market in order to find the vehicles we need to function in our daily lives. From the school run to the weekly carpool at work, our vehicles have become a necessity for the majority of us.
With the cost of car insurance quotes seeing an increase as a result of the credit crunch, many drivers are now becoming more conscious of their vehicles and the way they drive.
When it comes to bringing down the cost of your insurance premium, there are a number of aspects that you should bear in mind when renewing your policy, and a number of steps you can take to ensure that you bring down the cost of your policy.
- Age can play a part in the cost of a policy, young driver car insurance can be an expensive part of owning a vehicle at a young age. But by being careful when you’re driving and accumulating no-claims bonuses, you will be more eligible for discounts in the future.
- Try and avoid driving convictions – speeding tickets and other offences will add points to your licence, which in turn will affect the cost of your policy.
- Invest in some security for your vehicle – insurance companies are more likely to offer you a cheaper deal if you take steps to protect your vehicle from thieves and carjackers.
- Try to pay off your policy in full. Whilst it may be tempting to make use of monthly payments in order to spread the cost, you may find yourself paying more than what you agreed upon when you took out the policy.
- Research and shop around for an affordable policy. There are a number of methods for obtaining car insurance quotes – both online and over the phone – and with supermarkets and post offices offering policies nowadays; it has never been easier to find a policy that suits you.
- If you’re looking to buy a new car, consider the make and model of the vehicle you’re buying. Also consider the price of your vehicle when deciding which type of policy you want, would it be cheaper to insure an older vehicle for 3rd party, fire and theft rather than fully comprehensive?

Why are you more likely to crash without insurance?
I saw on tv that the police said your 6 times more likely to crash if you don’t have insurance, I don’t get it, surely if your driving without insurance your more careful to avoid crashing as it would cost you a lot.
Maybe you are more likely to have accident as your stress levels are higher?
My personal thoughts are bad news travels faster than good news so if someone has a accident without insurance thats more likely to get talked about that someone who drove without insurance and didnt have an accident (especially they got away with it as they wouldnt want people to know they didnt have insurance).

It’s because the type of people who don’t have insurance, are the type of people not to care. For example; joyriders.
Also, some cars are sometimes worth less than it costs to insure them, so people don’t because they can replace them for cheaper. Those types of car probably have comparatively poor performance and less safety features, than modern cars, therefore more likely to crash.

If you have no insurance you have probably got no licence, road tax or MOT either. Therefore you should not be on the road.

I think the theory is that people who don’t give a toss about insuring their car also feel the same about the rules of the road, other people’s safety, etc., etc.

The point is that YOU would know you had no cover, and you would not like to be caught,so , what do you do in a tight situation. You take risks that quite often lead to trouble, which also leads to getting caught, if the driver is alive after the crash.

I have seen it happen so many many times,4 of them fatal.
It does sound abit silly, its the same driver behind the wheel insurance or not, But you have to ask, if they haven’t got insurance what else have they not got, Licence?, MOT? could be a number of things

This is confusing cause and effect.
The police find that uninsured drivers are 6 times as likely to have accidents as insured ones. This is because those people that don’t have insurance are likely to be those of poor moral hazard or those who find that the cost of insurance is too high due to their age or poor driving records (e.g. drunkards, young males etc)
If you, personally, decide to drive without insurance (obviously illegal) it is unlikely to make you a worse driver. Of course what many people forget is that if you find an insurance company 30% cheaper than your current one and switch then you do not become automatically a 30% better driver. The chance of an accident is the same – but the insurer has 30% less money to pay out in claims – think about it.
